Mark is the founder and owner of Melbourne Private exercise. He graduated from the University of South Africa in 1984 with a degree in human movement studies. In 1991 he became the first South African to graduate as a strength and conditioning specialist from the world renowned NSCA. Over the past 35 years Mark has trained Olympic gold medallist swimmers, bronze medallist rowers as well as numerous other elite professional sportsman. He has stayed on the cutting edge of the fitness industry, attending multiple international conferences and in turn has lectured and presented at multiple sport and fitness conventions. Marks resolute belief in the power of exercise to add longevity and quality to life is at the forefront of his success as a trainer. His specialisation in the area of rehabilitation culminated in his consultancy to the late president Nelson Mandela. As a national champion in both Karate and bodybuilding he understands the need for discipline on the journey to wellness all the while being mindful that exercise should be enjoyable. With 35 years of experience as a fitness professional Mark has a unique ability to teach and train people from all walks of life.
Pam is a physiotherapist (Qualified Witwatersrand University 1986) and a personal trainer. Her initial interest in training began 18 years ago specialising in pre and post natal training. It has evolved over the years to include functional and interval training, general fitness and conditioning Pam believes in creating a BALANCED lifestyle with attention to regular exercise and healthy , sensible nutrition. She is passionate about her own health and fitness attending spinning classes, running, strength training sessions and playing golf.
Lisa is a physiotherapist and Fitness professional who qualified at the University of Witwatersrand South Africa in 1996 (Bsc Physiotherapy Wits). After immigrating to Melbourne in 1999, Lisa continued to practice as a physiotherapist working in acute care at the Alfred hospital and in a musculoskeltal private practice for her first 4 years in Melbourne .Her belief in the positive impact of regular exercise steered her in the direction of pre and post natal exercise, Clinical Pilates, Sports Specific and Exercise Rehabilitation. Lisa’s attention to detail and body biomechanics enhances the experience of her patients/clients. She is passionate about educating whilst treating people so that they can maintain independence in the process of changing their bodies. Lisa has a keen interest in knee and shoulder rehabilitation especially anterior knee pain and non-operable knee disorders and shoulder dysfunction. Lisa has personally choreographed several diverse multilevel group exercise classes including a Power Pilates, Strong Bones, Body 360 and HIIT-High Intensity Interval Training, whilst maintaining a large personal training clientele too.
Tia (Certified Personal Trainer ACE) was born into a family dedicated to fitness and wellness. Having worked from an early age in the family business she gained years of knowledge and understanding in pin pointing her clients needs and goals. She migrated with her family from Johannesburg South Africa in 2005 and started a career in exercise and pregnancy and personal training. Tia has presented and lectured at several Exercise in Pregnancy courses to other fitness professionals in Australia. She has choreographed and designed post natal classes for women who have recently given birth as well as progressed her clients back to their desired level of fitness post natally. Tia has 20 years experience in group fitness and guided personal training. She specializes in a holistic approach addressing nutrition, motivation issues, weight loss and general health. Her workouts are individually designed according to her clients needs being mindful of injury prevention and safety. She is sure to get the most out of you but always with a smile! Tia has recently started a new dynamic, simple to follow class which gets the most out of an hour. The class combines cardio drills, strength training with core and flexibility in just the right balance.
Sean is an experienced multi-certified and accredited trainer and coach. His educational background in exercise science and his most recent qualification as an exercise rehabilitation specialist (AFPA, 2013) means he is perfectly positioned to work with a multitude of clients. This includes, but is not limited to, clients who have musculoskeletal pathologies as well as those who are recovering from neurological, cardiovascular and metabolic disorders. He specializes in the assessment screening process, which is essential to understanding the potential limitations to certain types of exercise. His implementation of current post-rehabilitation protocols, increase the probability of a complete recovery for his clients. Sean is a certified strength and conditioning coach and works with numerous sports-people helping to maximize their performance in all areas of athletic endeavours. He is experienced in working with both pre-pubescent as well as adult athletes. His technical expertise in sports biomechanics covers golf, soccer, tennis, rugby, cricket and footy. His personal philosophy that ‘it’s not always about how hard you train, it’s also about how smart you train’ has helped him achieve remarkable results with all his clients.
Weight loss is Christine’s passion. Working as a banker, she experienced the demands of the corporate world and steady weight gain started. Putting one foot in front of the other, she lost over 40 kgs with her love of exercise and making healthy living a part of her life. Christine is a Certified level III Gym Instructor and Cert level IV Personal Trainer. She trains a diverse clientele with specific age related goals. She will address your core strength, flexibility and fitness with a watchful eye. Christine uses her love of Pilates to add diversity and balance to your workout. Christine is dedicated to furthering her education and is currently participating in a Rehabilitation Exercise Specialist course. ‘I know what it takes to lose weight, keep it off and the stumbling blocks you’ll face along the way. Never could I have become a Gym instructor or Zumba Instructor if I hadn’t and I live happily knowing I changed the writing on my wall.’
Debbie is a Qualified Fitness Professional with many years experience in the Fitness Industry. She has a dance and martial arts background which enables her to fully understand the bodies movements patterns. Her class choreography is dynamic, safe and most of all effective. Debbie’s friendly nature is uplifting and encourages clients to achieve their personal goals, she is passionate about helping people to make exercise part of their life long journey.
As a Naturopath who has a particular interest in physical therapies, a massage with me is described as: ‘therapeutic’. I bring a variety of techniques such as Deep Tissue and Trigger Point therapy, Myofascial Release (soft tissue stretching techniques), and Relaxation; which have been developed through formal training plus my work with Chiropractors and other therapists over the last 10 years. Your treatment with me: whether it be a massage, a Naturopathic consultation, or a PT or Pilates session, will always be guided by YOU, the client. Your muscles, fascia, injuries, stress levels, and any other response you have, are constantly monitored and used to guide further care. Because, ultimately, I care about you and your health.
